DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: What You Need to Know (1x vs 3x, Settings + Pocket 4 vs 4P)

DJI Osmo Pocket 4P: what you need to know

The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P (Osmo Pocket 4 Pro) is the first Osmo Pocket with a dual camera system. Alongside the familiar 20mm wide camera, it adds a brand new 3x telephoto camera (60mm equivalent, f/1.8) on the same gimbal, plus a new 1-inch type sensor with up to 17 stops of dynamic range, 10-bit D-Log 2 and ActiveTrack 8.0.

I've used every Osmo Pocket since the Pocket 3, moved to the Pocket 4, and have now been filming with the 4P for a while. In this guide I cover everything you need to know about the Osmo Pocket 4P: specs and price, the new wide and telephoto cameras, when to use each focal length, my settings and shortcuts, and the key differences between the Osmo Pocket 4 vs 4P so you can decide which one to buy. All the stills are from footage I shot around Sydney. You can see the footage in motion in the video. If you're looking at the standard model, read my DJI Osmo Pocket 4 guide too.

Osmo Pocket 4P price

US Australia
Osmo Pocket 4P Standard Combo No official US price $959 AUD
Osmo Pocket 4P Vlog Combo No official US price $1,099 AUD

Prices checked October 2026. DJI's global launch price was £529 (about $700 USD), but DJI doesn't officially sell the Pocket 4P in the US, so you'll only find it from third-party sellers and prices vary a lot. Check the current price on Amazon.

The 1x wide camera: 17 stops of dynamic range

The 1x camera has a new 1-inch type sensor with up to 17 stops of dynamic range, and it makes a real difference when you're out filming. In high-contrast scenes you can still see detail in both the highlights and the shadows. I also find the footage looks sharper and cleaner.

It keeps the same 20mm f/2 focal length as the Pocket 4, which is a great lens for filming and vlogging. The wide camera also gets the upgraded 10-bit D-Log 2, with a base ISO of 100 for clean shadows. I filmed in a mix of the normal colour profile and D-Log 2 so you can compare them in the video.

The new 3x telephoto camera

The telephoto is the headline feature. It uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor with a 60mm f/1.8 full-frame-equivalent lens, and it films in both D-Log and the normal colour profile. You can also use ActiveTrack with the telephoto lens. I put it to the test, and it stayed sticky on me and followed me smoothly.

1x vs 3x: when to use each lens

The 1x camera is your go-to for general filming, tight spaces and vlogging. It gives you a nice balance between capturing yourself and showing your surroundings.

The 3x telephoto adds versatility. It's great for more cinematic scenes and extra b-roll that helps establish a location. A long focal length compresses the distance between your subject and the background, so faraway elements look bigger and closer and your subject stands out. That's why telephoto shots can make a place look so different from how you see it with your own eyes.

1x camera (left) vs 3x camera (right).

The telephoto is also handy in busy places. The compression, the narrow field of view and the fast f/1.8 aperture help you cut out distractions.

When I travel for photography, my favourite combination is a 35mm wide lens plus an 85mm or 70-200mm telephoto, so I can capture anything on a trip. The Pocket 4P puts that same wide-plus-tele combination on a single gimbal.

Best Osmo Pocket 4P settings

Setting What I use
Frame rate and shutter 4K 50fps at 1/100, or 4K 25fps at 1/50
ND filters Yes, to keep the shutter slow in bright light
Colour profile Normal for ready-to-post clips, 10-bit D-Log 2 for grading
Vertical video Up to 3K 50fps on both cameras

Both cameras film in 4:2:0 10-bit. For smooth motion I use an ND filter so I can keep my shutter speed at double my frame rate: 1/100 at 4K 50fps and 1/50 at 4K 25fps. My full settings walkthrough, including auto ISO ranges and white balance, is in my DJI Osmo Pocket 4 guide, and it applies to the 4P too.

If you film in D-Log 2 and edit in Premiere Pro, my LOG to Rec 709 Essentials Lumetri presets convert LOG to clean, natural colour, and my Video LUTs add a finished look on top.

Osmo Pocket 4P photo mode

Photo mode shoots up to 37MP photos on both the wide and telephoto cameras. I share samples from both in the video.

Osmo Pocket 4P buttons and shortcuts

  • Flip to selfie: triple press the joystick to turn the camera around, and double press it to recentre.
  • Pressure-sensitive joystick: push gently for slow pans and further for faster gimbal moves.
  • Gesture control: hold up your palm to start ActiveTrack, and use a second gesture to start recording.
  • Zoom button: out of the box, long press the left button to zoom in and the right button to zoom out. The zoom button also does different things with a single, double or triple press.
  • C button: customisable. I use it to switch between photo and video mode.

What's in the Osmo Pocket 4P Vlog Combo

On top of the camera, the Vlog Combo adds DJI's FrameTap touchscreen remote, a DJI Mic Mini 2 transmitter, a mini tripod and a larger carrying bag. I test the mic and accessories on location in the video.

Australian price From $769 AUD From $959 AUD

The biggest difference is the telephoto lens. The Pocket 4 has a single 1x lens with up to 4x digital zoom. The 4P adds a true 3x camera, with up to 12x zoom, plus 4K 200fps on the telephoto for cinematic slow motion.

On the wide camera, the 4P has more dynamic range (up to 17 stops vs 14) and D-Log 2, which I found made it much easier to get the right exposure in high-contrast scenes. It also moves up to ActiveTrack 8.0 on both cameras.

Both cameras share the upgrades over the Pocket 3: built-in Beautify filters, internal storage plus a microSD slot, a bigger battery, USB 3 and faster transfers.

Should you buy the Osmo Pocket 4 or 4P?

The telephoto lens is the biggest reason to choose the 4P. If you always find yourself zooming in to get the shot, want more cinematic, compressed shots, or like building sequences that establish a scene, the 4P's extra versatility is worth it. If you mostly vlog and film wide, the Pocket 4 does that well for less money. Read my DJI Osmo Pocket 4 guide for more on the standard model, and watch the video for my full comparison footage.
